Relentless Women

Could Mary Have Said “No”?

I am thinking of you and praying for you this Christmas Season. I have a question…….

Do you think Mary could have said, “No,” to the angel when he told her what was going to happen?

The Angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her that she would conceive and give birth to a son, and she was to call him Jesus.

“How will this be,” Mary asked the Angel, “since I am a virgin?” (Luke 1:34)

Even as young and naïve as she might have been, she knew that this would bring about startling changes to her life. After the Angel Gabriel’s reassurances, she must still have been very confused and perplexed. Did she consider not going along with the plan? Did she even have free will in this?

We could debate this back and forth, but what matters is that she agreed to it…  And our Lord was born. Hallelujah!

Is God asking you to join with Him on a project? (of course He is!)  Is it possible for you to say “No” to the Lord when He asks you to do something for Him?

God has given each of us different tasks for His Kingdom. You have a directive from the Lord to accomplish what He has laid out for you to do. Don’t let anything stop you!

When doubts arise, remember Gabriel’s words to Mary: “For nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

My latest memory verse that I have been working on is not just a Christmas verse:

Luke 1:38a    “ I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”

May your Christmas be filled with awe and wonder at what the LORD will do through YOU.
