Bible Reflections

Significance of Bethlehem

Bethlehem was a small village about 5 miles southwest of Jerusalem. My, My, it holds such significance! Here, Little Shepherd Boy David watched his father’s sheep in the hills surrounding the town. Every year at the Feast of the Passover, thousands of sheep were sacrificed at the Temple in Jerusalem, and these lambs were raised in this area because of its proximity to the Temple.

Jesus was born about as close as possible to where the sacrificial lambs were born!

The Christmas story contains many intricacies that point us to the One True Savior of the world—Jesus. I am in awe of the knowledge that Bethlehem is such an integral piece of God’s excellent, unsurpassed, detailed plan to bring us salvation.

I trust that this Christmas you will experience the joy and wonder of God’s love like never before.

As always, please let me know how I can pray specifically for you.

I cherish the times we have learned together. As I write today, I am praying for you—for efficiency and productivity as you go about your daily responsibilities. The Lord knows we need help to accomplish what He’s asked us to do! I am also praying that you will KNOW that God is leading you.
